Adult Story Time

My sister has tried plenty of dating sites and techniques, she is almost addicted to it. She has tried on-line dating and speed dating; she has tried joining all these online sites, because she finds it exciting. Strangely, I don't think she is interested in finding a husband or making any long term relationship. I think she just loves the whole idea of it and the single life. My sister is very attractive, even though I say so myself, so I imagine that she gets lots of attention and I expect that is what she likes.

She went to this speed dating event which was organised online. It was some way away from where she lives, a good 30 miles away, but I think she would rather it was that way than local. You just don't know who you might meet, she said, and she didn't really fancy suddenly meeting someone she already knew by sight and then ended up bumping in to them every day afterwards. That would be so difficult, she said. My sister doesn't seem to keep her relationships going for very long, but she has plenty of them, so she probably knows what she means.

She got to talk to about twenty five guys, she reckons, at this speed dating event. She had five minutes with each of them. The problem, she said, with speed dating is getting the balance right for communication. You don't really want everything from one side, or it just doesn't work. Also, she said, it's important to get across your personality, in fact more important than bothering about your interests and coming up with long lists of things which most people seem to do. The secret is to just try to talk naturally, she said, and don't fuss it.

She did actually meet a guy that she clicked with. What was his secret? He had a nice smile, apparently, so it might not be so important what you say as whether you brush your teeth and have a good shave and a haircut. That's my sister though; she's never been very interested in words or content generally, what is most important to her is how things look and how presentable they are. From the point of view of having someone decorative on your arm, I guess she has a point, but personally, I prefer someone with a bit more depth than that.
